Lidia Mytchyk

Hello everyone,

I am Lidia, a passionate language enthusiast with a love for exploring new cultures and connecting with people from around the globe. Allow me to share a glimpse into my journey so far.

Originally from Ukraine, I was fortunate to grow up near the captivating city of Lviv, known for its rich history and vibrant atmosphere. After completing my schooling, my passion for foreign languages led me to embark on an exciting path at the University, where I pursued English and German Philology, specializing in teaching both languages.

I began my teaching career at my Ukrainian university, imparting my knowledge of German to eager Ukrainian students. However, my thirst for new experiences took me to Germany, where I furthered my language studies at Humboldt-University in Berlin. With a degree in hand, I then took on the role of coordinator at the Slavic Languages Department at Chemnitz University of Technology in Germany, overseeing Russian, Czech, and Polish language courses at the Center of Foreign Languages. In addition, I had the pleasure of teaching German to foreign students at my German university.

My love for languages knows no bounds, and I have also acquired basic knowledge of Spanish, Slovak, and Italian along the way. Learning has always been an integral part of my life, and I am a firm believer in experiential education. As a result, I also find joy in teaching, as it allows me to grow alongside my students.

Beyond my professional pursuits, I am an avid traveler. During my time in Germany, I had the opportunity to explore various countries, immersing myself in the local culture by renting private houses or apartments and engaging with the native population. This enabled me to gain insights into their traditions, culinary delights, flora and fauna, and off-the-beaten-path destinations that may not be found in typical tourist guides.

Now, as a new resident of the United States, I am excited to continue my career as a foreign language teacher and share my experiences and knowledge with the students at Aux 3 Pommes. Lifelong learning is a cornerstone of my philosophy, and I firmly believe that the best way to learn is by doing.

Alongside my Ukrainian husband, I am blessed with two beautiful children who are growing up speaking three languages simultaneously. Witnessing their language acquisition journey has been a true joy and reinforces my belief in the power of language to bridge gaps and connect people.

During my free time, I indulge in baking, cooking, drawing, and practicing yoga. I have also recently taken up swimming and tennis, breaking free from the mental patterns that once told me it was too late to learn these skills.

Above all, I cherish our planet and the diverse people who inhabit it, regardless of their nationality. I hold deep affection for my home country of Ukraine and the country of my children’s origin, Germany. I am confident that when you learn about these countries and their languages, you too will fall in love with their unique charms.

So, welcome to my classes at Aux 3 Pommes! Together, we will embark on a captivating journey, exploring new horizons, embracing cultural diversity, and unlocking the power of language. Let’s learn, grow, and create beautiful connections together!
