你好!I was born in Shanghai, China, with my family background originating from Hong Kong. Due to this, I grew up in a trilingual household, learning both Cantonese and Shanghainese alongside Mandarin. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Trade Economy from Shanghai University, and later on my MBA from the Metropolitan State University in Minnesota. I started teaching Mandarin to non-native Chinese speakers as a tutor since college, and have continued in this path for these years, even throughout COVID-19. Despite the challenges the pandemic brought, it also gave me the opportunity to gain experience in teaching virtually. Throughout my time teaching, I’ve encountered diverse groups of students, with vastly different ages and backgrounds. These experiences have given me a rich understanding of how to best help students no matter their differences. Through teaching Chinese to non-native speakers, I’ve gained a deeper love and appreciation of my culture, as well as a greater understanding for its difficulties. I believe that education is a learning experience for both the teacher and the student, which is why I am still so passionate about it to this day. It always makes me feel so excited and proud when my students progress in both learning Mandarin as well as developing an interest in Chinese culture along the way!
