Hello! My name is Ana Barrera, and I am a 39-year-old native of Ecuador. Because my husband is a diplomat, our family moves regularly, which has given me a rich, global perspective. After living in New Jersey for five years starting in 2016, we returned to Ecuador for four years before settling in Connecticut in August 2025.
Although I graduated with a degree in Pharmaceutical Biochemistry in Ecuador, my true passion is teaching and working with children. My teaching journey began early; as a teenager, I spent my Sunday afternoons traveling to rural communities to teach and share our beliefs with children. Later, I volunteered as a Sunday school teacher for kids for eight years.
After getting married, I warmly embraced the role of a full-time mother. During this time, I took on one of my most rewarding educational challenges: successfully guiding my eldest son’s bilingual literacy and ensuring he learned to read and write in Spanish across our international moves.
Now, I have decided to dedicate myself to a career as a Spanish teacher. While I have a deep love for teaching children, I am incredibly excited to begin teaching adult learners. I am eager to build my experience and look forward to using creative methods to foster a welcoming, engaging environment.
When I am not teaching, I enjoy a wide array of hobbies, including bilingual reading, learning the guitar and piano, swimming, gardening, and doing creative crafts.
