MANDARIN TEACHER
My name is Gwen Yao. I was born and grew up in China. I have worked as a teacher for many years, and I love teaching about language and culture. Since language is not only a very important part of culture, but also a carrier and embodiment of culture, I believe that our learning of a new culture could be hampered to a great degree if we don’t know the language. I also think that learning the language and culture of a country is a good start to learn about that country, and would definitely help in various ways our engagement with people from that culture.
