Bonjour! My name is Julien and I was born in France and moved quite a bit between Paris and New York City when I was young, all the while being schooled the French educational system until High School – when I went to LaGuardia High School for the Arts where I majored in Theater. Upon graduation, I attended McGill University in Montreal, Quebec, where I studied both French and English literature. There, I began tutoring my peers in language and writing skills in both of my native languages, as well as in Mathematics. Since, I have lived in many different places, from Russia to central Europe and back in France. Over many summers in France, I managed groups of international volunteers for various projects. My international past experiences have tuned me into an awareness, sensitivity, and continued curiosity for cultural differences and commonalities. I began teaching and tutoring the French language anew in September of 2024 with an afterschool program in Manhattan and have recently moved to the New Haven area. My personal and persistent studying of foreign language – Russian and Spanish – informs my instructing methods as I know very well what it is like to be learning a new language. I am a constant reader and writer in both English and French, and I look forward to sharing my love of language with you.
