Bonjour!
My name is Marie Kuhn Snow. I was born in Paris and grew up speaking both English and French fluently. While I spent my early childhood years in Michigan, I was schooled in an international program with French classes in the morning and English classes in the afternoon. My family moved back to Paris when I was eight and I spent the rest of my school years in Paris until a year after finishing my literary baccalaureate.
I moved back to the United States in 2001 and met the man who was to become my husband. We now have two young children with whom I speak English and French. I travel back to France as often as I can, as my parents, four siblings, and a large extended family still live there.
I have a degree in journalism and was a reporter for WNPR in Hartford before deciding to pursue my true passion: teaching! I started teaching French at Aux 3 Pommes in the spring of 2014 and I am currently pursuing a certification and masters in Romance Languages.
Furthermore, I was a teacher at Leila Day Nursery in New Haven for three years while pursuing my bachelor’s degree. It was an extremely rewarding experience. Teaching these young children gave me a taste of what it’s like to make a difference in a person’s life – to give them the necessary tools they need to feel confident and proud – and I loved it. Motherhood has also given me a remarkable perspective on the value of patience and tolerance, and the understanding that each individual child has different needs in terms of time, space, and guidance.
Having grown up in Paris in an artistic family, I was always surrounded by literature, art, music, and cooking. I spent my last year living in France studying art history and design. Here at Aux 3 Pommes, I am able to teach French by exercising my creativity and my love of art, language, and culture in a fun, loving, family-like environment. À bientôt!
