Biography
My
name
is
Carolina
Machado
de
Salas-‐Romer,
I
was
born
in
Venezuela;
a
country
that
is
known
to
be
rich
and
diverse
in
cultures.
Maybe
why
my
parents
always
encourage
us
to
learn
different
languages!
I
learned
English
as
a
second
language
during
my
school
years,
and
included
French
during
high
school.
After
high
school
I
had
the
opportunity
to
live
in
Switzerland
for
a
year.
There,
I
learned
beginners’
German,
business
and
photography
and
went
back
to
start
college.
My
dream
has
always
been
to
teach.
I
began
studying
Industrial
engineering
in
Caracas.
In
2001
I
got
married,
Venezuela
was
then
in
a
political
turmoil
which
prompted
us
to
move
to
the
US
to
begin
a
new
life.
I
later
finished
my
career
in
Boston,
MA,
graduating
Suma
Cum
Laude
in
Manufacturing
Engineering
from
Boston
University.
I
wanted
to
pursue
a
postgraduate
degree
in
education
to
be
able
to
teach
math
and
chemistry.
Yet
I
realized
during
my
college
years,
that
I
love
the
natural
ability
children
have
to
absorb
and
learn
at
an
incredible
pace.
I
interned
at
an
early
childhood
center
every
summer
and
found
my
calling.
I
started
working
at
Aux
3
Pommes
on
January
2005
as
an
assistant
Spanish
teacher.
A
while
after
I
took
charge
of
my
own
classes
and
in
2010
I
became
the
head
of
curriculum.
Now
after
10
years
I
feel
Aux
3
Pommes
is my
home
away
from
home.
I
am
still
inspired
by
the
imagination
and
the
capacity
children
have
to
add
knowledge
and
explore
ideas.
As
a
school,
we
strive
to
make
language
learning
a
fun
discovery
of
a
different
culture.
Our
target
is
not
simply
to
memorize
vocabulary,
grammar,
or
conjugations;
but
more
than
that,
to
communicate,
comprehend
and
get
immersed
in
a
culture
foreign
to
yours.
The
staff
at
Aux3
Pommes
is
a
rich
multicultural
mini-‐world.
We
are
lucky
to
have
teachers
from
all
walks
of
life.
We
all
come
here
to
get
trained
and
teach
our
students
more
than
a
language,
a
view
of
life.
In
this
ever-‐shrinking
world,
we
want
to
offer
expanding
horizons
of
language
and
culture.
